(Mukilteo, WA) - A $10,000 reward is being offered in hopes of catching the person or persons who set fire to the LDS meetinghouse on Harbour Pointe Boulevard in Mukilteo early Saturday morning. Mukilteo, an affluent community on the shore of Puget Sound, near Seattle, Washington.

Assistant Fire Chief Brian McMahan said investigators from Snohomish County, the ATF and the Mukilteo Fire Department spent 11 hours at the scene before making their determination Saturday. "The fire was started on the outside of the building, near the back entry," McMahan said.

LDS congregations (wards) that meet in the totally destroyed chapel, Harbour Pointe and Beverly Park of the Lynnwood Washington Stake, moved their Sunday services to the meetinghouse on the 100 block of 50th Street in Southwest Everett, near View Ridge Elementary School. The location is also home for two other Mormon wards, the Mukilteo Ward and the Everett 2nd Ward.

Fire crews were at the destroyed building for over 17 hours Saturday as they watched for hot spots. The estimated loss of the church building has not been determined. “There were no injuries in the two-alarm fire first reported at about 3:00AM PDT. When firefighters arrived on the scene moments later, the building was fully engulf with flames shooting out the windows,” according to Chief McMahan.
